REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR GUTHRIE CAMPS
DURING UPCOMING SCHOOL VACATION DAYS

Students ages 11 - 16 to gather on October 16, 17 and December 29, 30

(Minneapolis/St. Paul) The Guthrie is excited to offer students a series of unique alternatives to sleeping in, Facebook and junk food during four upcoming school vacation days. Teaching artist Mark Rosenwinkel leads a team of Guthrie artists and fellow thespians to guide students ages 11 - 16 in daylong explorations of musical theater, improvisation and Shakespeare. Registration for each full-day camp is $95 per student, or $160 if registering for both, and is available through the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, toll-free 877.44.STAGE and online at www.guthrietheater.org/learn.

Broadway Bound

Ages 11 - 13: Thursday, October 16

Ages 14 - 16: Monday, December 29

Take part in an extensive immersion in musical theater, with training in singing, dance and acting. Taught by Guthrie performers, students will take part in movement and vocal classes, and learn how to make bold acting choices for the "larger than life" qualities of musical theater.

Make 'em Laugh

Ages 11 - 13: Friday, October 17

Explore the whole range of comic acting from commedia dell'arte to Monty Python. With instruction in improvisation, physical comedy and classical comic text, students will work with some of the most trained and experienced Guthrie comic actors to create their own comic sketches. Learn the fine art of pratfalls, slapstick and the banana peel.

Camp Shakespeare

Ages 14 - 16: Tuesday, December 30

Spend a day with the Bard as we concentrate on the work of our greatest playwright. Led by experienced classical Guthrie actors, students will undergo training in acting, voice and movement using Shakespearean scenes and sonnets. Wield a staff! Rip off a string of Elizabethan insults! No previous experience with Shakespeare necessary.

All day camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Guthrie Learning Center.
